FWC staff has planned a 2,000 acre aerial herbicide treatment, to be conducted on Lake Okeechobee during the week of May 5, 2014. Typha, Phragmites, and Torpedograss are the target species. The herbicide mixture will consist of 96 oz/acre glyphosate and 16 oz/acre imazapyr.

The objective of this treatment is to limit monotypic stands, promote diverse native plant communities, improve fish and wildlife habitat, and navigation.
