Description of Program The Wetlands Reserve Program is a voluntary program offering landowners the opportunity to protect, restore, and enhance wetlands on their property. The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) provides technical and financial support to help landowners with their wetland restoration efforts. The NRCS goal is to achieve the greatest wetland functions and values, along with optimum wildlife habitat, on every acre enrolled in the program. This program offers landowners an opportunity to establish long-term conservation and wildlife practices and protection.
When are landowner applications accepted? Continuous, closest batching date 31st October 2011 for Florida. All applicants after above date will be considered in 2012.
Match Required?Yes Varies, depending on agreement. 75% to 100% federal match
Target Invasive Species? Federal or state listed (category 1) invasive species that degrade wetlands.
Any other Requirements or Eligibility?Non-federal lands (private, state, muncipal or tribal lands) or federal lands when primary benefit is on associated non-federal lands on a limited basis. Must meet HEL/WC (highly erodible lands/wetland compliance) and AGI (adjusted gross income) requirements.
Agreement Required Yes Offers 10 year cost share (or) 30 year and permanent easement contracts
