Dexter Sowell
I am a Florida native and a Research Scientist for the Florida Natural Areas Inventory at Florida State University. I conduct invasive plant surveys, inspections of invasive plant treatments, and conduct vegetation monitoring on actively managed conservation lands. I serve on Steering committees for two Cooperative Invasive Species Management Areas (CISMAs), and I am a member of the FISC Plant List committee. I have experience with Florida’s flora, fire-dependent ecosystems, invasive plant species management, and prescribed burning. Previously, I worked for the Florida Forest Service, Tall Timbers Research Station and Land Conservancy, and an environmental consulting firm. I graduated from Florida State University (BS), Georgia Southern University (MS), and the University of Virginia (PhD).
