Chair
Dr. Deah Lieurance is an Extension Scientist with the University of Florida and since January 2013, she has been the coordinator of the UF/IFAS Assessment of Non-native Plants in Florida’s Natural Areas. The Assessment aims to prevent the introduction of invasive nonnative plants to the state before arrival and also works to identify invaders as early as possible through regular assessments. Deah received her Ph.D. from Wright State University in 2012 studying plant-herbivore interactions and the chemical ecology of native and non-native honeysuckle species. She also spent 3 years in Ft. Lauderdale at the USDA Invasive Plant Research Laboratory participating in research on the biocontrol of Melaleuca, Brazilian pepper, and earleaf acacia. Deah served as the Legislative Chair for FISC from 2013-2020 and is a member of the Plant List Committee.
