Aquatic Plant Control Notice – Monday, June 05, 2023<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row disable_element=”yes”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Invasive Plant Management Section” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Schedule of Operations August 10th thru August 14th<\/p>\n

Water hyacinths and water lettuce are invasive, exotic, aquatic plants which clog waterways, making recreational activities difficult or impossible, and choke out beneficial native plants. Managing and treating these plants are necessary for the health of Florida’s waters and to enable continued recreational boating and other aquatic activities.<\/p>\n

Creeping primrose which has been in the river for the past 5 years is managed to lowest feasible level to prevents its growth and spread. This plant can quickly overtake native vegetation and smother it. It can also form large mats that could prevent flood or navigation issues.<\/p>\n

Contractors will be treating floating plants in Lake Jessup within the northern marshes, Soldiers creek,(which is presently blocked), and the southern tributaries.<\/p>\n

Contractors will be treating creeping water primrose in Lake Jessup. Treatments will mostly take place within the northern marshes. However, if time permits there will be additional treatments along the south shoreline, mainly in the tributaries.<\/p>\n

Brevard County crews will be treating South Lake and Fox Lake for Cattails, Oxycaryum Cubense, Torpedograss and Water Lettuce with the use of Diquat, Glyphosate and Imazapyr.<\/p>\n

There are no restrictions for fishing or swimming.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row disable_element=”yes”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”St. John’s River Water Management District Schedule” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]August 15th thru August 19th<\/p>\n

SJRWMD will be treating floating plants in Lake Washington as well as near Three Forks. SJRWMD applicators will be utilizing diquat.<\/p>\n

Diquat has a 1 day water restriction for drinking water, livestock and domestic animal watering.<\/p>\n
